A few weeks ago, Sabine Marcelis gave a workshop in France on the property of Boisbuchet about exploring lights. The workshop 'Exploring Light' focused on the exploration of light in the broadest sense. She has used several material from us for this workshop to show all the effects of light!

The idea is to give the impression that (day)light is caught/trapped in the wooden logs. They used only a small strip of the clear acrylic sheet, but I was a big contributor to the end result. The thick acrylic layer that goes through the log is recuperation material that was already at the workshop, left over from other projects. This makes this project durable since every material of the workshop is used. This was shaped to match the form of the logs. On the bottom of the acrylic going through the wood, they glued a strip of transparent acrylic with a reflective backing, provided by PyraSied. The participants tested a few other strips from the available materials. That helped them to pick the material that is best suited for the logs. This project shows that acrylic is easy to fabricate and that it is a versatile material, suitable for many different applications.
