Lumenus is an interactive light construction that shows how different parts can work together to form a unity. It is an impressive spectacle of acrylic satin tubes and steel cables that keep each other in balance. The lighting and accompanying soundscape respond to impulses that the audience gives. Thus the actions of the public are a dynamic and lively work of art. Earlier, Lumenus was already presented at GLOW Eindhoven, Lowlands and festival Into the Woods.
PyraSied Xtreme Acrylic from Leeuwarden has made it possible that this artwork is now presented at the Zaailand square. We work together with various light festivals in the Netherlands and abroad as a specialist in tube and sheet material that spreads light beautifully. We quickly agreed when we heard that there is a light festival in Leeuwarden: we are going to offer the city in which we are located a beautiful light artwork! Lumenus was made in 2016 by students from the Technical University in Eindhoven of our acrylic tubes. And they did a very nice job!
Lumenus was designed by Timo LeJeune and Julius Oosting, both graduated from Eindhoven University of Technology in Industrial Design and now active with their company Lumus Instruments. In the artwork, the rods are lit from the inside. When you touch it, the immense artwork generates a visual response. This effect represents how during a brainstorm, a regularly used tool for both students and professionals, different small ideas - impulses - can form a complete plan together. Thus the ideas of the public together form the image that Lumenus gives.
The acrylic satin tubes spread the light nicely and gives it a nice soft appearance.
