This cabinet is a collaboration between Studio Speciaal and sculptor Frits Achten. A collectable piece in which two contrasting worlds collide. The solid weight of the rock suspended in the open wooden framework, and the opaque compartment serving as a visual counterweight. This creates a balance between thoughtfulness and intuition.

Studio Speciaal is an interdisciplinary design studio based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. As a studio, we balance between the disciplines of design, technology and art. Our work is characterized by conceptual value, rich materialization and high-quality craftsmanship. We create self-initiated work and work on commission.

Our commissioned projects vary from very abstract questions to specific assignments. Due to our diverse approach, we always look for the most suitable solutions, forms and materials. Our curiosity and flexibility make our method applicable in many different situations and for many different purposes.
