The Student Hotel opened its location in Delft in October last year. For the design of the restaurant, The Commons, they have used sustainable, recycled materials from PyraSied, such as the colourful Kaleido sheet from the Smile Plastics collection for the bar and the tabletops. Sustainability and circularity were an important theme for the design of the hotel and the restaurant. The Amsterdam design studio The Invisible Party created the design in collaboration with the design team of TSH and the Fiction Factory. All public areas, workplaces, Collab and the in-house restaurant "The Commons" are designed according to circular design principles.
The tabletops and the bar are made of 20mm thick colourful sheets from Smile Plastics. Type Kaleido is completely made of cosmetic PET bottles, one sheet can hold up to 2500 PET bottles. Each sheet is unique and has its own design. All sheets are made from plastic waste, moisture resistant and fully recyclable.
